O'Brien Contractors wins silver at International CSR Excellence Award - Environment Category. The awards recognise companies that commit to making a positive, beneficial impact on their customers, their suppliers, their employees and their families, and the communities they work in. The CSR silver award was announced at the awards ceremony on HMS Belfast on Monday 29th July. Peter O'Brien, Managing Director at O'Brien Contractors said: "We are delighted to have won this award. Taylor Wimpey profits up 40 per cent as margins and revenue grow

Housebuilder Taylor Wimpey has seen revenue, operating profits and margins grow substantially in the first half of 2013. Compared to the first six months of 2012, profit before tax has jumped 42.1 per cent, to 拢76.7m. Revenue, meanwhile, has increased by over 拢100m, from 拢906.2m in the first half of 2012 to just over 拢1bn in the first half of 2013.

Carillion JV wins 拢100m property management contract

Carillion, in joint venture with CBRE, has won a 拢100m property management contract with Stockport council. The contract will run for ten years, with an optional extension for a further five, and will see the firms carry out strategic management of all the council鈥檚 property services. Its value is said to have the potential to grow 鈥渟ignificantly鈥� through increases in the scale and scope of delivery.

Lend Lease will build monument to commemorate World War One

Lend Lease will build the only physical monument in Britain to commemorate the World War One. The contractor is building the 拢500,000 memorial arch free-of-charge at Folkestone. It will be erected over the route taken by 10 million British, Canadian, American, Australian and Asian troops between 1914 and 1918. The coastal town in Kent was the main port of embarkation to and from the trenches of the Western Front. Designers Foster Gearing plan to install wireless technology underneath the base so that at night black and white holograms of the men can be projected marching through the completed arch. The objective is to bring events to life for today鈥檚 younger generation by mirroring the emotional atmosphere of the war years.
