The Competitive Dialogue process to appoint the Development Partner for regeneration of South Shields town centre is in progress with the anticipated appointment date by June 2013. This 拢100 million development will be retail led, but will also include a mix of leisure and other commercial uses, potentially a public library and it could also include alternative uses such as residential. It is anticipated that the project could last circa ten years although the Council wishes to see significant development brought forward during the first five years in particular.
