Government to launch 拢30bn contractor framework The government is close to launching a new 拢30bn construction framework covering projects for a number of public bodies. The Crown Commercial Service confirmed it had begun developing what will be the biggest construction framework in the country, allowing public bodies such as government departments, NHS trusts and local authorities to appoint contractors for construction, refurbishment and demolition jobs.

Laing O鈥橰ourke signs 拢2bn offsite partnership with Stanhope Laing O鈥橰ourke has signed a partnership with developer Stanhope that could see 拢2bn-worth of schemes developed using offsite methods over the next five years. The partnership, which also includes housing association Network Homes, plans to identify, develop and build out two major projects a year in London and the South-east in a bid to speed up housebuilding in the region.

Heathrow wants HS2 to utilise offsite hubs Heathrow Airport has said it wants other national infrastructure projects to use its offsite construction hubs. Four logistics hubs will be built in different areas of the UK, enabling components to be assembled offsite before being transported to the airport鈥檚 third runway project. A spokesperson said Heathrow was now working with other infrastructure clients to look at using the hubs to help deliver their major projects.
